For those who want to buy a new one iPhone 14 they will have to wait longer as coronavirus lockdowns in China affect shipments from the Foxconn factory where the devices are assembled.
Apple has announced that its assembly facilities, located in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou, are “currently operating at significantly reduced capacity” due to Covid restrictions.
“We continue to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models,” the company said. However, Apple expects shipments of these models to be smaller than previously thought, and customers will have to wait longer to receive their new products.
Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant, which is one of Apple’s biggest suppliers, has seen a flurry of cases since mid-October, and last week authorities imposed a seven-day quarantine on the area where the plant is located.
The lockdown is putting enormous pressure on Foxconn and Apple just before the start of a key holiday season for retailers, and once again highlights the implications of China’s strict zero-coronavirus policy on international business.
