
Thirteen people died in a fire that broke out in a Russian cafe in the city of Kostroma, located about 300 kilometers from Moscow, local authorities said on Saturday, according to AFP.
“According to the first information, 13 people died as a result of the fire,” Oblast Governor Serhii Sytnikov reported on Telegram.
The fire that broke out on Friday evening in a cafe called “Polygon” was extinguished by the morning, the governor said, noting that five people were injured.
The State Emergency Service reported that the fire covered an area of 3,500 m2.
The RIA-Novosti agency, citing a police source, reported that 250 people were evacuated from the building where the fire broke out.
