Ampissa mixed jury sentenced to 10 years in prison a 75-year-old Lamia lawyer who was arrested in 2019 on charges of sexual intercourse with a person under 12 years of age.
The court found no extenuating circumstances in his statement, and the guilty verdict by both the ordinary judges and the jury was unanimous.
During the trial, he denied the actions attributed to him and repeated the statement he made during interrogation that it was “the product of machinations by the mother of a minor in order to obtain sums of money from him”, which did not convince the court.
The court itself decided that, due to his advanced age, he would serve his sentence at home, while he was granted a stay of execution of the sentence pending consideration of his appeal.
