Without a head coach and without a bid, FCSB lost at home to West Ham United (0-3) last night to end a disastrous European campaign.
The Romanian runners-up were the weakest team in the UEFA Conference League groups, and the departure of Nicolae Dike further deepens the chasm in which the red-blue outfit find themselves.
For some time, Gigi Becali, the financier of the team, confirmed that he is in talks with several coaches from Romania, as well as technicians who prepare schemes from abroad.
Laurenziu Regekampf, reticent about returning to the FCSB bench
Currently, Neftchi Baku coach Laurenciu Regekampf last trained in Romania at Craiova University and did not rule out a possible return to FCSB.
Liviu Chobotariu, Eugen Neagoe, Ilie Poenaru and Andrej Prepelita are the coaches who have been in the news recently, but none of them are in advanced talks with the Romanian runners-up.
Neftchi Baku have been aiming to challenge for the title this season, but Laurentiu Regekampf’s side are only 3rd after 12 stages, 8 points behind leaders Qarabag, who also have a game in hand.
Regekampf refused to answer in any way regarding the vacant position on the FCSB bench, and the possibilities of his return to Romania are quite slim.
“I don’t want to comment anything on this topic, because everything I say will leave room for interpretation. This is a club that is forever in my heart, I respect Gigi Becali, there are people there who know what to do. I really don’t want to get into any discussions and speculations about FCSB.” – he said, reports Playsport.ro.
