
Electric cars had a great new quarter in Europe, including Romania, although several countries saw declines. ACEA figures show that the number of diesel cars is still falling, but the decline has slowed this summer. Which countries are the best in each section.
Gasoline cars – 37.8% of the market in 3 quarters
EU registrations fell 17% in nine months, from 3 million to 2.57 million units. In Romania, they increased by 11% to 39,700 units.
In Italy, the drop was 23%, and in France – 20%. The biggest drop was in Finland (-38%) and Sweden (-33%). The growth of these cars has been recorded in several countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Cyprus, Latvia.
The market share of diesel cars in the third quarter was 16.5%.
Diesel vehicles continued their decline, falling 24% from 1.53 million to 1.16 million new vehicles. The ratio of diesel to gasoline is almost 1 to 2.5.
In Romania, the reduction was 25%, from 16,000 to 12,000, and the largest percentage declines were in Cyprus (-61%) and Denmark (-49%). In France, diesel became cheaper by 34%, in Italy by 28%. Greece decreased the least: -8%.
It should be noted that in the third quarter, diesel cars fell in price much less than in the rest of the year, the decrease was -4.7% at the EU level, according to ACEA data.
The market share of fully electric cars in the third quarter was 11.9%.
100% electric cars had the best quarter in their history: 259,000 units were registered in the EU, of which 3,259 in Romania, for nine months the total number for our country was 7,719 units (four times more than in the same period in 2021 year). ).
At the EU level, electric car registrations increased by 26% to 716,000 units in the first nine months of this year. Germany is the number 1 market with 273,000 units. and France reached 140,000. In third place in terms of volume is Sweden – 58,000, and in fourth – the Netherlands – 47,000.
Which countries have grown the most in nine months? In terms of volumes, France and Germany grew by more than 30,000 cars each, while Romania and Cyprus both increased their market share by 300% (but small volumes).
It is interesting that in the general EU market, which grew by 26%, two countries fell: Austria (by -0.1%) and Italy (-23%).
Two non-EU countries have excellent EV numbers: the UK (175,000 units, up 40%) and Norway (80,000 units, down 0.8%).
