The Minister of Regional Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Chernyshov, resigned because he had to replace the chairman of the board of directors of the energy company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” Yury Vitrenka, who was dismissed on November 1, the Independent from Kyiv reports.
“By decision of November 1, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the resignation of the chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine Yury Vitrenka,” Naftogaz said in a statement on Tuesday, Reuters reports.
“Yuriy Vitrenko will continue to hold the post of chairman of the national company until November 3, 2022 inclusive,” the message reads.
Vitrenko, 46, had served as Naftogaz’s chief executive since April 2021, but his departure was widely expected following a series of Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities in recent weeks.
He will be replaced at the head of Naftogaz by Oleksiy Chernyshov, who was appointed Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine on March 4, 2020.
The Ministry of Regions will be merged with the Ministry of Infrastructure, the new department will be headed by the current head of the Ministry of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
