The morning sun hits my face and I can’t resist anymore, so I open my eyes. I toss and turn, trying to figure out what I had to do today, what dream I had last night, what day it is today, how much time I have before I can lie in bed a little longer.
I will definitely have breakfast in the living room as it is my favorite meal and I will never miss it! So, after getting dressed from sleep, I will finish my delicious meal and then I will brush my teeth, comb my unruly curly hair (it takes about 15 minutes) and go get dressed. I’ll check the weather, rummage through my closet, and then sit down for a bit before picking out the outfit of the day! I will choose a color that suits both the mood of the day and my own.
I leave the house, lock the door, the elevator and immediately to the car. I get stuck in a traffic jam (classic), but since I’m already “stuck” between the rest of the cars, I decide that I will listen to the radio in order to escape, to free myself from the tedious traffic jam. Between songs, lyrics and my morning performances(!) I don’t know when I will reach the end of the route. I come to a meeting for morning coffee. My companions, sometimes my husband, sometimes friends, sometimes all together, sometimes me and the company of a good and beloved book. Some days I avoid the car trap completely, so I prefer to drink coffee in my area, in the center of Athens, in Kypseli. The “artistic” area, as I like to call it. There, in St. George’s Square, in Fokionos Negri or in Pedion tou Areos, we will meet various artist friends living in the area. Some will sit at our table for a few minutes to tell us what they are cooking. They will then leave to continue their day, and soon another artist will appear in their place, ready to share their ideas and projects. Others will sit at the next table and talk about music and theater, and we, without realizing it, will exchange information. Our dens in Kipseli are always ready to introduce us to their neighbors, and this is not easy to meet these days.
I come home and get ready to cook. Although some days the process of cooking seems like a boring chore to me, in general it is something that I enjoy and do with pleasure.
After dinner I will sit on the balcony and read my favorite book or do my Italian exercises. If I don’t feel like reading, I put the books down and start chatting on the phone with my girlfriends scattered all over Greece.
“Song time is my time. This is the moment when I fully connect with my body.”
Home, mobile phone, vacation, talking to my husband… The time when I plan tasks that are not completed or when I complete them. A time when sometimes I do absolutely nothing!
I start my vocals. I always try. With dedication and discipline! Sometimes I end happily and sometimes tired, but one thing is certain: I paid the price. I feel that my body is tired, but at the same time I feel that I am filled with joy. This is how I felt when I played volleyball and did hard workouts every day. Song time is my time. This is the moment when I fully connect with my body. All my senses are sharpened, and all my energy is focused on one thing. In song. Final release. The moment I realize that I am exactly where I need to be!
Since I’ve warmed up my voice, it’s time to listen to our new songs with Nicholas or try some new sounds. Along with rehearsal in the studio, we try to organize our musical performance and organize our rehearsals with accompanying musicians. Ideas, discussions, reflections, creativity and thoughts.
Film on TV. I prefer something romantic or comedic. A simple thing is just what I need to relax.
Evening routine and bedtime. Tomorrow is another busy and wonderful day!
