While many people associate UFOs with extraterrestrial visitors from other planets, the term refers to any aerial phenomenon that cannot be explained, the Center says. Scientists often find that many reported UFOs are more earthly in nature, such as atmospheric phenomena or man-made objects. However, reports of UFO sightings remain.

UFO sightings have been reported in Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, Norway, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Last night was a clear night. When we left a friend’s house at 8:45, the telescopes were clearly visible. As we looked out over the lake to the east of our town, we noticed a bright ball of light, much brighter than the stars. And which somehow moved strangely, as if swimming down in a zigzag pattern. As we watched it, it slowly began to fade, and then it disappeared right before our eyes. I must say it was like watching a ship suddenly accelerate and disappear. Probably, others on the shore of the lake saw it – the phenomenon was very noticeable!” – says one of the reporters
