In the early morning of October 23, 2019, the bodies of the deceased were found behind the trailer of a truck being transported from Zeebrugge in Belgium to Purfleet.
Marius Mihai Dragici, 49, who was arrested by police in Romania in August, is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with his involvement in the incident.
Dragic is suspected of being part of a network that coordinated illegal immigration trips to Great Britain.
He is charged with 39 counts of involuntary manslaughter and conspiracy to aid illegal immigration.
