Michelle Obama takes the public behind the scenes of a photo shoot for the cover of her new book, The Light We Bring: Overcoming In Uncertain Times.
In a behind-the-scenes video she shared with People magazine, the former US first lady reveals what inspired her new book.
“I’ve been listening to people’s stories and, you know, thinking about some of the lessons I’ve learned in life and some of the tools I use to keep things together,” Obama says on the set of the photo shoot. “I thought a lot of people would benefit from putting it all in one book and sharing it with everyone.”
Obama’s latest book, published four years after her bestseller Becoming, is designed to bring together readers who together can pave the way for progress even in difficult times.
“I’ve learned that it’s okay to recognize that self-worth is linked to vulnerability and that what unites us as people on this earth is the desire to fight for something,” she wrote in a statement, presenting her new work in July last year.
The Light We Carry, published by Penguin Random House, will debut on November 15 and is available for pre-order now.
