Mid-summer weather will bring temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius this weekend in some regions of France, where mild weather conditions persist for several weeks, reports Agerpres with reference to DPA.

In southwestern France, temperatures could rise to 27-30 degrees Celsius this weekend, the national meteorological service (Meteo France) announced on Thursday. Regions along the border with Spain may even register values above 30 degrees Celsius.

Thanks to warm air from the Canary Islands and the Iberian Peninsula, the temperature in France will be 4-5 degrees Celsius above the national average for this time of year. Temperature records have already been broken in several French towns in recent days.

As Meteo France noted in its forecast on Thursday, the wave of warm weather comes against a backdrop of increasingly noticeable climate change. Heat waves have not only become more frequent and more intense, but they are also occurring earlier and later than in the summer, as is set to happen this weekend.
