The images were taken by a fauna monitoring camera installed in the field by Retezat National Park administration staff.

According to the cited source, the presence of the brown bear in Retezat National Park once again demonstrates the complexity of the natural environment and the diversity of natural habitats present here.

Retezat National Park – one of 22 national and natural parks managed by Romsilva – is home to 55 species of mammals, representing over 23% of Europe’s land mammals. The park has created conditions for the survival of the most important large European carnivores: lynx (Lynx lynx), bear (Ursus arctos) and wolf (Canis lupus).
