In 2003, Zenith launched the Chronomaster Open El Primero, the first chronograph to feature a large opening on the dial, through which the setting mechanism and escapement system were exposed. At Watches & Wonders 2022 in Geneva last April, Zenith unveiled a new generation of Chronomaster Open watches, featuring a more modern style and a more sophisticated look. Its iconic tri-color dial remains a consistent design feature.

The Gesalite crystal located at the 9 o’clock position acts as a sub-dial and at the same time opens the star-shaped silicon escapement.

This is also a change from previous Chronomaster Opens which had a clear opening at this point.

Water resistant to 100 meters, 39.5mm case, thinner temples, more embossed polished jewelry lugs and pump-shaped buttons.

Inside, the automatic movement of the El Primero 3604 chronograph works with an accuracy of 1/10.^you seconds, frequency 5 Hz, silicon escapement and lever, power reserve 60 hours.

The steel model is paired with a black or white dial and wears a steel or cordura strap. Price: €9,200 (strap), €9,700 (bracelet).

Zenith is not accidentally called the master of chronographs. It has at least half a century of history behind it in this area. On January 10, 1969, he introduced the El Primero, the first unified automatic chronograph movement that ran at 36,000 vibrations per hour and was the only one that could measure short time intervals to tenths of a second. Zenith was the first to cross the finish line in a “race” between several brands to create the world’s first automatic chronograph.
