Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal warned of a “new migration tsunami” if Russia continues its attacks on civilian infrastructure in his country, in an interview to be published in full on Sunday, Agerpres reports.
Denys Shmyhal, who will take part in the German-Ukrainian economic forum in Berlin on Monday, accused Moscow of wanting to “plunge Ukraine into a humanitarian catastrophe”, according to excerpts of his interview with the Sunday newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, distributed in advance. .
“If there is no electricity, electricity and water in Ukraine, it can trigger a new migration tsunami,” he said.
Russia wants to “give Ukraine a cold winter during which people can literally freeze to death.” This could lead to a planned humanitarian disaster, the likes of which Europe has not seen since World War II,” he warned.

In an interview with FAS, Denys Shmigal also asked Berlin to deliver new ammunition to Ukraine in the coming days to repel Russian airstrikes.
To restore Ukraine, Shmyhal wants to use Russian assets frozen abroad. According to him, the damage caused by the Russian attack now amounts to “more than 750 billion dollars”.
At the same time, there are frozen Russian assets in the amount of 300 to 500 billion dollars, he emphasized. “We have to develop a mechanism for the confiscation of Russian assets,” said the Ukrainian prime minister.
After Monday’s German-Ukrainian economic forum, during which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will deliver a video address, an international conference on the recovery of Ukraine will be held in Berlin on Tuesday.
“We’re going to have to invest a lot of money” to rebuild Ukraine, Chancellor Scholz said in his weekly podcast, published on Saturday.
“Ukraine cannot do everything by itself. The EU cannot do everything alone. This can only be done by the international community, which currently supports Ukraine. And he should do it for a long time,” he said.
On Tuesday, the conference in Berlin will be attended by Olaf Scholz and Denis Schmigal, as well as the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. Volodymyr Zelenskyi will also make a video speech.
