Then, under various pretexts or using fraudulent websites, they artificially extracted the necessary identification information and codes for entering Internet banking and “emptied” their accounts.

To do this, they used the bank accounts of people in need of money as a “vehicle”. “They said give me your account so they can deposit the money they owe me. The person billed, received a small fee for the service, and then the team members withdrew the money, leaving the person exposed, who most of the time, unknowingly, was used by the group as a fundraiser. amounts of money that he extorted from others,” well-informed sources explained.

In other cases, posing as businessmen, they contacted stores and placed orders for products using forged documents, through which the victims were convinced that the money for these products had already been deposited with the bank. Then they took food and disappeared.

Information indicates that the perpetrators have received sums approaching two million euros from these activities, while they are said to be involved in at least 260 such cases. It is worth noting that they used the so-called “Pakistani” phones to communicate with each other and spoke in the Roma dialect so as not to be noticed by the representatives of EL.AS.

So far, seven arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. It should be noted that in addition to Zevgolatio, searches are also taking place in Zephyri’s houses.
