
OUR Joni Mitchell will give his first concert 23 years after his last performance on stage.
The popular Canadian folk, pop, rock and jazz singer-songwriter will take the stage at the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington DC on June 10, 2023. Mitchell will headline one of the event’s two shows. At another concert, the great artist of the evening will perform. Brandy Carlyle.
The event, which takes place over two days, is called “Echo through the canyon”, but is also known as “Joni Jam II”. The first official Johnny Jam concert was organized as part of the Newport Folk Festival, where Mitchell again performed with Carlisle. “I want to do another gig, play music again,” said the songwriter.
“No one could buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play music for the last 20 years. So that’s great… and he’ll do great.”
Mitchell last headlined in concert during her Both Sides Now tour in 2000.
In 2015, the singer suffered a brain aneurysm that affected her ability to speak and walk. “I got my speech back relatively quickly, but I have trouble walking,” he told director/producer Cameron Crowe in 2020. “But I’m a fighter, I have Irish blood in me.” When he was honored by the Kennedy Center in 2021, he added: “I had to come back many times from events that happened to me. The last one was a real monster. But I’m walking slowly, I’m fine.”
She also attended the Grammy Awards in April. She was named “Person of the Year” by the charity MusiCares and won “Best Historical Album” for “The Joni Mitchell Archive Volume 1: The Early Years (1963–1967)”.
In early 2022, Mitchell joined Neil Young in protesting coronavirus vaccine podcast platform Spotify by asking the streaming service to remove her albums. “Irresponsible people are spreading lies that cost lives,” the statement said.
