Education Minister Ligia Deka says that educational institutions will benefit from the cap on electricity and gas prices, so “there should be no difference in utility bills other than consumption”, stressing that special situations should be known in advance. Such a situation – with schools able to go online due to high heating bills – exists in Giurgiu. Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke says there are areas where support is needed every year to provide heat, but solutions will be found.
Lygia Deka said on Thursday during a video conference with prefects to prepare for the winter that schools will benefit from the provisions that limit electricity and gas tariffs and “we should not have differences in utility bills, except for those related to related to consumption”:
- “If there are special situations, we would like to find them out in advance. We were informed about this situation in the municipality of Giurgiu, we spoke with representatives of the local public administration, who told us that they would need additional funds. , from the existing legal framework, we cannot make these additions without increasing the normative cost of goods and services, which we cannot do, but we sent them to the Ministry of Development, where such additions can be made,” said the Minister of Education. .
She stated that there are currently no “revised” problems with school heating, but that the analysis will be done again so that problems are known in time.
Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke also stated that it is not about the transition of some schools online due to heating:
- “This part of the transition of schools to online due to the deadline has no place in our discussion, because we discussed long before what measures need to be taken to ensure all the conditions, and to make such a decision is unacceptable, in conditions where even today, when we discuss, we are looking for a solution to ensure the development of a coherent educational process, without any other syncope.
- We know that there are several settlements in the country that need support for heating every year. We are discussing those settlements where, unfortunately, heating is still provided by the consumption of fuel oil. We will find a solution (…)
- To be honest, I do not see and do not accept that we interrupt the educational process because there is no deadline in any educational unit. (Photo: Dreamstime)
