Luxurious, sporty and calm

The new GLC is the epitome of modern sporty luxury. It is the most dynamic model in the Mercedes-Benz SUV family. The design has unique proportions and impressive surfaces. But going inside, the choice of quality materials is obvious. The 12.3-inch (31.2 cm) high-resolution LCD screen in the driver’s seat appears to be floating freely in front of the wing-shaped instrument panel. The 11.9-inch (30.2 cm) center screen rises harmoniously from the center console, without any connections, and also seems to float above the dashboard trim. Like the instrument panel, the screen is slightly turned towards the driver.

The GLC measures 4716mm long, 60mm longer and 4mm lower than the previous model. Boot volume has been increased by a longer rear overhang and has increased significantly to 620 liters (+70 liters compared to the previous model). An Easy-pack rear hood is standard, which conveniently opens and closes at the push of a button: by pressing the button on the car key, the driver’s door switch or the rear hood release handle.

In the most favorable aerodynamic configuration of the new GLC, the drag coefficient (Cd) is only 0.29. It’s a pleasantly quiet car with a remarkably quiet environment and low levels of aerodynamic and rolling noise. This was achieved through acoustic optimization of the hull and sophisticated soundproofing.

Luxurious, sporty and calm-1
The impressive interior of the new GLC is dominated by two 12.3-inch and 11.9-inch LCD screens.

The new GLC is only available as a hybrid vehicle, either as a plug-in hybrid or mild hybrid with 48-volt technology and an integrated starter generator (ISG). The engine line-up exclusively includes four-cylinder engines from the current Mercedes-Benz Modular Engine (FAME) family. Accordingly, in demand-based electrification, the engine range contributes significantly to the flexibility of the international production network. Four of these engines are mild-hybrid units that accelerate intelligently at low revs with an integrated second-generation starter dynamo (ISG). The GLC also gets a fourth-generation plug-in hybrid drive. Using the same main engines, electrification took another big step. Now with 100 kW of electric power, 440 Nm of torque and a range of more than 100 km (WLTP) of electric power, daily commuting can almost be done entirely on electricity. The advanced hybrid driving program takes care of electric driving on the most suitable sections of the route. For example, electric vehicles are preferred for long trips within the city. Whether it is one of two petrol engines or a diesel engine, plug-in hybrid vehicles are not only highly efficient, but also extremely dynamic to drive.
