His popular series Netflix “Crown(The Crown) will not feature the car accident that claimed the life of Princess Diana in Season 6, as stated by the creators.
While production on the sixth and final season is underway, programming officials on the streaming platform have confirmed to UK media that “the exact moment of impact will not be shown”. Diana will be played by Elizabeth Debicki and her partner Dodi Al Fayed will be played by Khalid Abdullah.
Princess Diana and Al Fayed were murdered in Paris in 1997. The events leading up to the plane crash and its aftermath will be covered in episodes airing next year.
A source close to the production told the Deadline website that the crew was “afraid” to film Diana’s death and that there is “anxiety and sensitivity” around these scenes. So, it was decided to include not the crash, but before and after.
Deadline’s report also says we’ll see Prince Charles (Dominic West) arrive in Paris to collect Diana’s lifeless body, while Dodi’s father Mohamed Al Fayed (Salim Doh) will receive racist abuse from French authorities when he take possession of his son’s coffin.
Until the fifth season the premiere will take place on November 9, 2022, marking Debicki’s debut as Diana. The upcoming new series of episodes focuses on the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana under the watchful eye of Queen Elizabeth, played by Imelda Staunton.
