Angel Iordanescu is convinced that the Romanian national team cannot maintain a rhythm with matches every 3 days

According to Sport Total FM, the last coach who took Romania to the final tournament (Euro 2016) believes that the physical training of the players is not reliable, in conditions of increased tempo, as it was in June this year. . The national team, coached by Edi Iordenescu, son of “Tata Puyu”, finished last in the rankings and was relegated to Division C of the Nations League.

“I can say purely personal observation. I noticed in the national team in the June matches, when we played four matches in 10-11 days and did not manage.

Then we missed out on qualifying, finishing in the top two that month. Finally in September the situation improved, we showed good results in the match against Bosnia and Finland.

Going back to that 2016 European Championship, I was worried that our national team could not win matches every 3 days.

The schedule put us at a disadvantage because if we played the first game against Albania, the second game against Switzerland and the third game against France, we probably lost the game completely against France, but we had a chance to qualify.

The players of our national team cannot physically withstand such large-scale competitions. You can take as an example FCSB and CFR Cluj, who have a lot of problems with expression when they play every three days, I mean both external and internal.

Look at FCSB, they fought for the last places in the Super Bowl, and the international performance did not please us,” said Angel Jordanescu.

Romania was lucky in the draw for the preliminary Euro 2024 tournament

Romania’s opponents on the way to the final tournament will be Switzerland, Israel, Kosovo, Belarus and Andorra, and the first two places in the group will go directly to the European Championship, which will be held in Germany.

If Switzerland is clearly the favorite of this group, and Romania cannot claim the first place, then the second position in the group looks much more accessible.
