Thus, according to the joint order of the Ministry of Family Affairs, Youth and Equal Opportunities and the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, submitted for public discussion, young people who have turned 18, but go to school or work, will receive 2,500 lei. monthly until the age of 26, and people who have children in foster care will receive 420 lei per child per month, in addition to care allowance.

“In particular, we are talking about monthly assistance to young people who have reached the age of 18 and continue their education in the form of training, or have found employment. They will receive a monthly allowance of 2,522 lei for the entire period of study, up to the age of 26. As I said, the allowance is granted until the same age, and in a situation where they prove that they have a job,” says Firea.

It notes that the same joint order also details the conditions under which the monthly allowance will be paid for the first time to an individual or family with one or more children in foster care.

“It costs 420 lei and is provided, in addition to the monthly placement allowance, for each individual child. This is the first time that the absolutely unconditional work and commitment of these people who take children into foster families and who have not yet received any material reward for this, including financial, has been recognized. Because we truly value the work and dedication of foster care assistants, it’s time to show that we also value the families or people who take these children into foster care,” Firea writes.

“These new rights, as well as the monthly allowance for placement, are provided from the state budget through the budget of the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity,” said the Minister of the Family.
