
A man was killed and a woman is missing after their car was swept away by floods that hit the northern coast of the Greek island of Crete on Saturday, Greek authorities said.
Greek firefighters said they pulled a man from a car that was washed away by water after torrential rain in the village of Agia Pelagia in the Heraklion region.

The images show cars floating or partially submerged along with fishing boats in the murky waters of the sea near Agia Pelagia.

Fire crews received hundreds of calls to get people to safety or pump water out of flooded buildings on the island, a fire service spokesman said.
