
Ford has launched a major environmental and social responsibility initiative called “Clean Ocean – Investing in a More Sustainable Future”. Its goal was to add another stone to the building of environmental protection and public awareness of issues related to sustainability. In this context, the first phase of the initiative, which was completed with particular success over two days on October 8-9, 2022, was to clean the seabed from discarded car tires around the islet of Hydroousa, located in Attica, opposite the Voula area.
More than 20 vehicle tires that have already been identified and registered in this particular sea area were recovered from the seabed with the full assistance of a team of 10 certified divers from the elite Aigaleo Special Purpose Team and then placed on a floating platform. provided and provided for the needs of a specific environmental action of the Municipality of Vari Voula Vouliagmeni.
This platform was then taken to the first beach of Voulas where the tires were cleaned with a special fire truck and then loaded onto a municipality truck for transport and storage on site until they were recycled.
