In the Russian city of Belgorod, a projectile hit a residential building, with local authorities claiming that it was fired by Ukrainians, and Kyiv claiming that it was hit by a Russian missile fired at Kharkiv.

The governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reports that a residential building came under fire from the Ukrainian army, publishing photos of large pieces of cement near the block in Telegram. According to him, at the moment there is no information about the victims.

Belgorod is located approximately 40 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.

Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the President of Ukraine, says that the Russian military attacked its own citizens.

“Russia launched a missile in the direction of Kharkiv, but something went wrong and it hit a residential building in Belgorod, Russia. Will there be an investigation? Or punishment? No, Putin doesn’t care who he kills: Ukrainians or Russians. Propagandists will quickly find a false explanation,” Podoliak wrote on Twitter.

Images surfacing online also suggest anti-aircraft systems have gone off, with some Twitter users even suggesting the Russians were trying to intercept their own Pantsir missile over one of their cities.
