“There are no guarantees” that Europe will survive this winter season based on its current gas reserves, Alexei Miller, CEO of Russia’s state-owned Gazprom, said Wednesday, according to CNN.

Speaking at an energy conference in Moscow, Miller also said that Germany’s underground gas storage would only last two months, two and a half months at most.

Gas storage in the EU is about 90% full, and we are leading from that point of view, Czech Industry and Trade Minister Josef Sikela said on Wednesday after a meeting with EU energy ministers in Prague. .

Europe’s energy crisis has deepened as Russia curbed natural gas exports, forcing governments to spend billions of euros to protect businesses and consumers.
