
Angela Lansbury, the British-born actress whose career spanned eight decades and played memorable roles in series such as “Judgment to Murder,” has died at the age of 96, her family said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
Angela Lansbury died in her sleep at her home in Los Angeles on Tuesday, just five days shy of her 97th birthday.
Known for her role in Murder Sentence, and on Broadway for her memorable role in Auntie Mame, and in film for her appearances in The Manchurian Candidate and Kerosene Light. Lansbury had one of the longest and most successful acting careers in Hollywood and New York.
Angela Lansbury was nominated for an Oscar three times for her roles in Gaslight, The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Manchurian Candidate. In 2014, she was awarded an honorary Oscar. The famous actress also won six “Golden Globes” and received 15 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
In addition to her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David, she is survived by three grandchildren, Peter, Catherine and Ian, as well as five great-grandchildren and her brother, producer Edgar Lansbury.
