Iga Sviatek unexpectedly lost in the final of the WTA tournament in Ostrava to Barbora Krejcikova, and after the competition in the Czech Republic announced what she would do with the money collected at the WTA 500 tournament.

In Sunday’s final, Krejcikova (champion of Roland Garros-2021) won after three hours and 15 minutes of struggle with the score 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-3.

The finalist in Ostrava, Iga, received a check for 58,032 euros from the organizers.

After the conclusion of the WTA 500 tournament, the world number one said that she was happy to have reached the final and thus received a check with a significant amount of money.

The Polish woman then announced that she would donate all the winnings to a mental health organization in her country.

“I really wanted to play well in Ostrava to have as much money as possible for donations. I am very happy that I managed to do it,” Iga Svyatek said, among other things.

This season, the Pole, who authoritatively dominates the WTA hierarchy, has already achieved 60 victories.

He has lost eight in a row.

To date, Iga has collected $9,289,185 in tennis prize money alone this season.

Tournaments won by Sviatek in 2022: Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart, Rome and Roland Garros.
