Canada on Friday announced new sanctions against Iran’s “murderous” regime and banned 10,000 officials from entering its territory “forever,” including members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Iranian regime’s ideological army, AFP and Agerpres reported.

“This measure has only been used in the most serious circumstances against regimes that commit war crimes or genocide, such as in Bosnia and Rwanda,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau added.

He again offered his support to the Iranian people, who have been protesting for three weeks after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died on September 16, days after she was arrested for violating Iran’s strict dress code.

This is the biggest wave of protests in the Islamic Republic in almost three years.

Tehran’s security forces brutally suppressed the protests, AFP recalls.
