US President Joe Biden on Thursday did not rule out a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during the G20 summit in November in Bali, Indonesia, AFP reports.

“It remains to be seen,” he told reporters when asked about the possibility of direct talks with the Russian president during the summit.

The White House previously stated that such a meeting was impossible.

But the travel plans of the two leaders have not yet been confirmed.

The US president said that if Vladimir Putin goes to the G20 summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy should also attend, even though his country is not a member of the group.

Joe Biden said he is “confident” he will meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping if the latter comes to Bali.

However, it is not known whether Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will attend. The invasion of Ukraine has isolated Russia on the international stage, and the Chinese leader is limiting his travel abroad due to Covid-19.

In August, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said in an interview with Bloomberg that the presidents of Russia and China would attend the summit.
