Lidl announced on Thursday that it was recalling a range of hazelnut-flavored cream wafers that were found to contain Salmonella Typhimurium. The product was sold throughout the country, so those who bought it are urged not to consume it and to return it to stores without presenting a receipt, News.ro reports.

“The manufacturer Pak Rampart doo is conducting a preventive recall of the product “Tastino Napolitane with hazelnut flavored cream 72%, 800 g”, all expiration dates and all batches. After the analysis, Salmonella Typhimurium was detected,” ANSVSA said Thursday in information posted on its website.

Salmonella can cause serious diseases of the stomach or intestines (salmonellosis).

Customers who have purchased this product, regardless of the expiration date, are asked to consider the recall and not consume it.

“For reasons related to consumer safety, Lidl Romania reacted immediately and removed the product from sale. The product can be returned in all Lidl stores. Its value will be returned without presenting a tax receipt,” the message also states.

This recall concerns only the product “Tastino Napolitane with cream 72% with hazelnut flavor, 800g”.

Other products sold by Lidl Romania, including other products from the Tastino range, are not affected by this recall.

Lidl says the targeted product was distributed across its chain of stores.
