The number of cases when Russian men received an order for conscription, despite their unfitness, is so great that it was not possible to hide this situation even from Russian television, and TV presenter Volodymyr Solovyov suggested shooting too diligent recruiters.

The moment happened during Solovyov’s show on the “Russia-1” channel, one of the guests was the head of the Russia Today TV channel Margarita Simonyan.

“We all read that the first wave is soldiers, sergeants and junior officers under 35 years of age. But do I have to show you how many induction medals are given to 45- or 43-year-old soldiers who are already aaaah?” – asks Simonyan, gesturing to people who have just finished their military service.

“I think even a 62-year-old man was summoned,” Solovyov interjects, and then Simonyan adds that she saw the case of a 59-year-old man who received a registration order.

But videos posted on social media last week also showed the case of a 63-year-old Russian lieutenant colonel who said he had been drafted. In the video, he said he was suffering from diabetes and cerebral ischemia, but was cleared by a military doctor even though he had not undergone a medical examination.

“In principle, something should be done about this,” said Margarita Simonyan on the “Russia-1” broadcast, adding that people should not be “upset.”

The Kremlin’s favorite propagandist talks about the shooting of Russian officers

“Could we shoot the culprits?” — asks Volodymyr Solovyov, who is considered a favorite propagandist of President Vladimir Putin. The head of Russia Today replies that he is against shooting people, but Solovyov denies it:

“I, on the contrary, am in favor! I would simply expose some responsible recruiters, especially the smart one from Novosibirsk.”

It is not clear what exactly Volodymyr Solovyov is referring to, but anti-mobilization protests have been going on in this Siberian city for the past few days.

“Take that recruiting officer by the ear and send him to the front lines in Donbas,” suggests the Russian TV presenter, adding that he should be given a shovel to dig a place for himself at the front.

“I don’t think he was thinking about anything like the attack that happened this morning in Siberia,” quips BBC journalist Francis Scarr, who broadcast the moment from Russian television.
