Schools: Fast paced assessment

The political message that the teacher assessment process and schools will not be “diluted” on the eve of the pre-election period, directs his leadership Ministry of Education with its decision to proceed immediately with the issuance of the relevant ministerial decision and circular for schools. At the same time, student grades and school unit files for the last academic year are intended for review by the Education Policy Institute (EPI) and the Office of Quality Assurance in Primary and Secondary Education (ADIQEA). According with information “K”Minister of education Niki Kerameos asked two institutions to submit proposals based on the findings of the evaluations.

In particular, a ministerial decision to evaluate approximately 150,000 teachers is in the final stages of legal processing, and an executive circular will be issued to schools. information “K” report that there have been suggestions for the evaluation to be lenient as it was the first time and in the school’s first year since the shock of the pandemic. The proposal to take into account special circumstances was accepted. However, this does not mean that the reform project will not continue.

The Ministry of Education is immediately launching a Ministerial Decision and Circular for Schools – IEP submits proposals based on the results of the national PISA competition.

In this context, the introduction of new institutions of mentor and intra-school coordinator, as well as the decision of the ministry to file a lawsuit demanding that the decision of the Hellenic Federation of Teachers (IOE) to strike – refrain from implementing the provision for the mentor to be declared illegal and the coordinator. The ministry believes that the choice of federations is political in nature and does not have the legitimacy of public opinion and parents. For its part, the SYRIZA Department of Education yesterday reported, among other things, that “the allegation contained in the lawsuit filed by the Minister of Education that the strike is allegedly political in nature, since it is “not directed against the state as an employer, but against the authorities coordinated state functions and has as its main goal […] or change of any body of political power, […] or preventing a certain political or political-economic orientation of the rulers. With the same argument, any strike can be characterized as political, as a result of which the right of workers to strike is generally called into question.

At the same time, ADIPPDE shall study the reports on the external performance evaluation of each so-called school unit, drawn up by a competent consultant on the Pedagogical Responsibility of Education, as well as the reports of the Regional Centers for Educational Planning. for schools in each region. The goal is for ADIPPDE members to issue an overall evaluation score in the first year.

Also, the IEP, when evaluating the results of the national PISA competition, will submit proposals on the negative points identified as a result of the qualitative evaluation of the results.
