Significant moments unfolded on Saturday afternoon at Syntagma Square, where about 200 Iranians gathered to protest the death of 20-year-old Mahsa Amini.

They shouted slogans against the tyrannical regime, as they called it, while two young women had their hair cut in front of everyone, and their hijab was set on fire right next to them.

One of the women who shaved her head in front of the crowd shouted in English, “We are being killed for our hair, please be our voice!”

The slogans were in Iranian, and in Greek they chanted the word freedom, as well as “women without freedom.” Mahsa Amini and the overthrow of the dictatorship. A man in the crowd reportedly injured himself by hitting his head.

The protesters gathered at the top of the square, taking the steps. There was an inconspicuous presence of EL.AS on the spot.
