Nearly 1,500 protesters have been arrested in Russia since Wednesday after President Vladimir Putin announced a “partial mobilization” plan to send more Russians to war in Ukraine, CNN reported.
According to the said NGO, so far 1,472 anti-mobilization demonstrators have been arrested between September 21 and 24 in cities across Russia, but the number detained by the police could be much higher.
Over the past 24 hours, OVD-Info counted the detention of at least 97 people in eight cities – Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Khabarovsk, Ulan-Ude, Krasnodar, Chita and Gatchina.
The other day, this protest monitoring group reported that some protesters were enlisted in the army immediately after their arrest.
