Gheorghe Dinke, accused of murdering two teenage girls from Caracal – Alexandra Machesana and Luiza Melenko – was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday. The decision of the Olt court in this case is not final.
In addition, according to the verdict, Gheorghe Dinke is obliged to compensate the families of the two young women in excess of 700,000 euros in moral damages.
The trial in the Caracal case ended in the first instance in the Olt court in June this year, three years after 15-year-old Alexandra Machesanu called 112 to report that she had been abducted from the street and asked for help.
Gheorghe Dinke was tried for the kidnapping and murder of Oleksandra Macesana (15 years old) and Luiza Melenko (18 years old). He was referred to the DIICOT court for human trafficking, trafficking of minors, aggravated murder, rape and abuse of corpses.
The Olt court on Friday announced the sentence: 30 years in prison for Gheorghe Dinke is the maximum sentence he could receive, given that he was 69 years old. In similar situations, the prosecutor’s office asks the court for life imprisonment, but in this case, the criminal law does not allow this because of Dinke’s advanced age.
The verdict can be appealed within 10 days.
Dinka is currently in Craiova prison.
