The Russian occupation authorities of the Kherson region state that they fear Ukrainian shelling from HIMARS systems on the day of voting in the referendum on joining Russia, TASS reports.
“We are afraid of provocations, but not from Kyiv. We are not even afraid of their provocations and all their bombings and partisans. The problem is the bombing by American high-precision weapons from NATO countries,” said Kyrylo Stremousov, head of the regional administration established by the Russians in the occupied territories of this region of southern Ukraine.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out strikes from HIMARS systems on strategic objects in Kherson both before and after the start of the counteroffensive from the south on August 29.
A favorite bridge object was the Antoniv bridge, the largest bridge across the Dnieper, which was used to replenish the Russian troops on its left bank.
On September 12, the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain stated in its assessment of the war in Ukraine that the Ukrainian troops hit the bridges over the Dnieper with HIMARS so often that the Russians do not have time to repair the damaged bridges.
Powerful explosions in the capital of the Kherson region
On September 16, powerful explosions rang out in the center of Kherson, the capital of the region, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces deny that they are behind them.
One of the Russian state news agencies RIA Novosti reports that the central administration buildings installed by the occupiers in Kherson were hit by at least 5 HIMARS missiles, the video shows significant damage to one of the buildings.
However, Ukraine did not announce these explosions in the city of Kherson and previously warned that the invasion forces would prepare a “false flag” operation in the occupied territories.
Like the occupation authorities of Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia, Kherson this Tuesday announced the holding of a referendum on joining Russia on September 23-27.
