A historic car restaurant in Arizona, USA, has broken the Guinness World Record for most milkshake flavors.
In addition to burgers, Snowcap, located in Seligman, on the famous Route 66, introduced 266 (!) different flavors of milkshakes.
The shop owners, the Delgadillo family, with the help of about 30 employees, prepared all the milkshake flavors from the menu in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
A judge from Guinness World Records Ltd then assessed whether all they had made were actually milkshakes and whether they had been made to hygienic standards.
Typically, the store serves milkshakes in 13 different flavors. However, in order to break the world record, they had to think carefully and, of course, implement all their strange ideas.
So, among the unusual flavors that were prepared were:
- peanut butter with onion rings,
- coffee with mustard
- banana, hot sauce, chili and orange
- Oreo cookies with orange rice and fish burger.
Then, after the records were verified, the strange drinks were given away for free to locals and tourists who happened to be in the area.
Family business with history
As mentioned, Snow Cap has been run by the Delgadillo family for many years. In 1953, Juan DeGadillo opened an auto shop and started with an interesting menu that the people of Arizona wanted to try.
His brother, Angel Degadillo, known locally as “Seligman’s Barber”, is a city icon and owner of a local barbershop.
Both were advisors to John Lassiter, the creator of the animated film Cars, as he researched the history of America’s legendary Route 66.
