Around 4 am, the 71-year-old man took his first step. Fire at the house of his brother, with whom he allegedly had financial disagreements, and burned his car in the garage.

He then took his farm vehicle and broke into the window of a clothing and souvenir shop run by his brother in the Polychnithos area. According to local media, the 71-year-old man was transporting gas cylinders in an agricultural vehicle, and the store was engulfed in flames.

Finally, 10 firefighters in 3 vehicles arrived at the store’s location to put out the fire, where they found the body of a man inside an agricultural vehicle, which, although unidentified, is thought to be the 71-year-old offender.

It is noted that the store and the agricultural machine were completely burned down, the house and the car of the brother of the arsonist were seriously damaged.

Clearly shaken, the owner of the shop and house, Mr. Angelos Kriklanis, spoke on stonisi.gr about the incredible situation.

“I can’t believe what happened. My brother generally had a problematic attitude towards me and towards society in general. He should have been in prison for years. I supported him all our life. Recently, there have been several serious problems. He set fire to my house and gift shop. Luckily I caught it and got out, it’s all incredible,” he said.

The investigation is being conducted by the Investigation Department of the Mytilene Fire Service.
