Access to the queue to see Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin on public display at Westminster Hall was suspended on Friday due to overcrowding, with people waiting for up to 14 hours, Reuters and the BBC reported, the British government announced.
The British authorities have announced that no one will be allowed to sit in the queue anymore, the ban will be in effect for at least six hours: “The seats to the south are taken. Do not try to sit in the queue until it opens.

Before the announcement, the waiting time had increased to 14 hours, and people waited day and night in queues of several kilometers to be able to walk in front of the coffin placed in Westminster Hall.
A sign posted in the queuing area read: “Entrance to the queue to see his majesty’s casket is temporarily suspended. The waiting time from this point is at least 14 hours.”
The closed coffin of Queen Elizabeth II is on public display in Westminster Hall until the morning of September 19.
Queen Elizabeth II is to be buried on Monday at 19:30 local time (21:30 Romanian time) in a private ceremony at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, on the western outskirts of London, after a state funeral on Monday morning.
