Attendance: calls up to three for an ADAE hearing

Calls for the resignation of the director of the National Intelligence Service. Panagiotis KontoleontasAttorney Vasiliki Vlachos and a police officer formerly assigned to the Greek Interior Ministry who was allegedly spying on PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis, plans for the near future Message Privacy Authority (ADAE).

The procedure concerns a confidential document, the only surviving official dossier on the Androulakis case, which the EMP sent to the telecommunications provider of President PASOK. Just a day after EYP notified Wind and ADAE of the order to remove privacy from the PASOK president’s phone for national security reasons, K reported in a Sunday paper that employees sent a new, additional document to the cell company.

At the same time, they asked the responsible persons to confirm that the phone number indicated in the non-disclosure order really belonged to Mr. Nikos Androulakis. Corresponding correspondence was circulated in September 2021, when the phone of the President of PASOK was hacked.

In late July 2022, as part of an investigation into the high-profile case, ADAE auditors visited Wind’s office and, after consulting with company executives, found that EYP had indeed proceeded to remove Mr. Androulakis’ privacy. In addition to the order signed by the EMP supervising prosecutor Vasiliki Vlachos, a second additional document was discovered during the check. It bore the signatures of a former EMP commander, prosecutor Mr. Vlachos, as well as a police officer seconded to the National Intelligence Service who, in the midst of the revelations, left his post for health reasons and returned to Attica. Security Administration. The officer in question held the position of Second Deputy Director in the EYP Office, which deals with organized crime, terrorism, and counterintelligence (except for Turkey and neighboring countries).

Last week, at the plenary meeting of the ADAE, an extraordinary inspection of the UIP facilities began. As part of the procedure, service officials and the competent prosecutor were asked to provide clarifications regarding the existence of a particular document, but the information indicated that they declared complete ignorance of its existence. However, since the document bears the signature of Ms. Vlachos, there were even suspicions that a particular document was forged. In view of the gravity of this particular issue, it is highly likely that, in addition to summoning the three signatories for a hearing, the heads of the Office and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court will be informed.

In connection with the above disclosures, competent sources explain to “K” that after consultations between EYP officials and mobile operators, additional requests are service documents, such as those sent to Wind, to simplify and speed up procedures so as not to send a supervisor to control EEM Prosecutor Ms. Vlahova. For the same reason, as it turned out, prosecutor Vlaho declared ignorance of the ADAE auditors about the existence of the document.

At the same time, the same sources of information report on a specific document that an EL.AS employee previously handed over to EYP. used an older form for an internal request to Wind, which existed prior to consultation with the providers and which, however, had the signatures of Messrs. Contoleon and Vlachos beforehand. They insist that this is a completely legal action.

Yesterday, ADAE continued extraordinary inspections of the Information Management and Analysis Directorate EL.AS. and in the fight against terrorism, on the basis of the relevant decision taken two weeks ago at the plenary meeting of the Authority. In the fall of 2021, two services that have legal meeting systems were also regularly checked without any results.
