The Prime Minister’s Control Body was sent to the Ministry of the Environment as a result of the Environmental Fund Administration’s decision to block Blue Air’s accounts, sources in the state government are quoted by the News.ro agency.

The same sources claim, citing the statements of Environment Minister Tanchos Barna, that the decision to block the accounts belonged to an official.

The minister would say he was unaware of the decision and that several payment notices had been sent to Blue Air, to which no response had been received.

In recent days, several TAROM flights have been hijacked by Romanian passengers with tickets booked by Blue Air, which suspended flights last week after authorities froze the company’s accounts due to debts it owes to the Fund Administration. Environment.

Budget airline Blue Air announced last Friday that it intends to resume flights starting October 10, 2022. The decision to resume flights “strongly considers the company’s ability to reimburse all affected passengers and pay all commercial partners the cost of services provided for the benefit of the company.” The company sends passengers on regular flights until October 10, 2022 not to show up at the departure airports, as these flights are not operated. In addition, the company currently does not have the necessary funds to pay for the fuel and other operating costs required for flights scheduled from September 12, the date it initially announced it would resume flights.

Blue Air said Thursday that approximately 230,000 passengers were affected by the flight cancellations and were given three options: rescheduling their flights, creating a virtual wallet for future purchases and getting a refund. More than 17,500 e-wallets were created for a total of 1.9 million euros. The company clarifies that the compensation depends on the resumption of flights, and the management expresses its full readiness to resolve the situation.
