At the age of 37, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has little chance of winning this year, sitting just sixth overall.

Under these conditions, Mercedes are looking for a replacement for next seasons and Nick de Vries, who impressed at Monza, could be the perfect choice to partner George Russell.

Nick de Vries, a pleasant surprise from Monza, could replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes

Like George Russell (who impressed in Bahrain in 2020 when he replaced a Covid-stricken Lewis Hamilton), Nick de Vries took Alexander Albon’s place at Monza.

Albon underwent an emergency operation for appendicitis, he had complications after the operation.

With a Williams single-seater, de Vries put on a show and managed to finish 9th at the Italian Grand Prix in his first career Grand Prix.

According to Express.co.uk, thanks to his performances at Monza, Mercedes are keeping a close eye on Nick de Vries, believing the driver could be the perfect replacement for Lewis Hamilton.
