​Emma Reducanu qualified on Monday in the second round of the tournament in Portorož (Slovenia), beating Diana Jastremska.

The Ukrainian, who is ranked 89th in the world, had to withdraw due to injury when the main favorite was leading 6-2, 5-3 (30-0).

In the next round of the WTA 250 tournament, Reducanu (83 WTA) will meet the winner of the match between Elizabeth Mandlik (USA, 124 WTA) and Germany’s Anna-Lena Friedsam (Germany, 213 WTA).

The tournament in Slovenia is part of the WTA 250 category, has a total prize money of $251,750, and at the start there were 32 players in the main draw. The competition takes place from September 12 to 18.

The overall champion is Jasmine Paolini (she won the 2021 edition, the only one to compete in Portorož).
