The US Open 2022 has ended (the big winners are Iga Svyatek and Carlos Alcaraz), and the American organizers have announced the amount raised during the three weeks of competition to help Ukraine.

Fundraising for Ukraine began during US Open Fan Week at the Tennis Plays for Peace event and continued throughout the tournament thanks to donations from US Open USTA partners, fans and private donors.

Athletes Rafael Nadal, Iga Svyatek, Koko Gauf, Dayana Yastremska, Daria Snigur and Katarina Zavatska participated in Tennis Plays for Peace.

This event alone raised $1.2 million out of a total of two million, News.ro reports.

All the money collected went to the crisis relief fund in Ukraine on the GlobalGiving platform.

The U.S. Open said fans who want to donate can do so at tennisplaysforpeace.com.
