The backup line will provide the plant with “external electrical energy necessary for reactor cooling and other safety functions,” the IAEA said, according to CNN and News.ro.

The last operating reactor of the ZNPP, the largest nuclear complex of its type in Europe, was shut down on Sunday morning after the restoration of power lines.

Work at Ukraine’s Russian-controlled Zaporizhia nuclear power plant has been completely halted for safety reasons, the state agency Energoatom, which is responsible for the plant, announced on Sunday.
