After the death of the queen, the children of Harry and Meghan became His Royal Highness Prince Archie of Sussex and His Highness Princess Lilibeth of Sussex, writes News.ro with reference to CNN.
The changes are the result of agreements created over a century ago. Under rules established by George V in 1917, the monarch’s grandchildren automatically receive royal titles.
As the grandchildren of King Charles III, Archie and Lilibeth are now eligible to be princes and princesses, although they did not immediately qualify as great-grandchildren of the Queen.
Last year, Meghan controversially suggested that Archie could be denied the title because of his mixed race.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex said the royal had expressed “concerns and discussions about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
“Harry gave it to me. There were conversations that the family had with him,” Meghan added, but declined to reveal who was involved in those conversations. “It would have been very damaging for them,” she said.
