The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, wished the new British monarch a “successful and glorious reign.”

King Felipe VI of Spain sent the following message: “On the occasion of the proclamation of the accession to the throne, I wish to convey to Your Majesty, from myself and from the Spanish government, our sincere congratulations.”

Even Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his wishes, saying: “Please accept my sincere congratulations on your accession to the throne. I wish Your Majesty success, health and all the best.”

Putin’s message came at a time when Russia is waging war against Ukraine, where Great Britain has strongly sided with Kyiv. Britain has sent Kyiv weapons and provided military training to help the country defend itself against Russian aggression, CNN notes.
