​Over the last day, 2,063 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 3 more than the previous day. The highest number of cases – 242 – is in Bucharest, where the infection rate remains the highest in the country – 2.18 per thousand.

427 of the new cases in 24 hours were re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.

In contrast to newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who had already tested positive, 95 people tested positive again.

The number of hospitalized patients is decreasing

In specialized medical facilities, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 1,891, which is 49 less than the previous day.

161 people were hospitalized in intensive care, which is 1 more than the previous day. Of the 161 patients admitted to the ICU, 136 were unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of hospitalized patients, 206 are minors, 202 in the wards, as in the previous day, and 4 in the intensive care unit, 1 more than the previous day.

13 deaths in the last day

From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,838 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have died.

In the interval 09/08/2022 (10:00) – 09/09/2022 (10:00) INSP reported 13 deaths (5 men and 8 women), there were no deaths before the control interval.

Of the 13 deceased, 3 were registered in the age category of 60-69 years, 3 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 7 in the age category over 80 years.

All the deceased had concomitant diseases.

Of the 13 who died, 2 were vaccinated.

How many Romanians were checked?

Over the last day, 2,752 RT-PCR tests were performed (1,891 based on case definition and medical protocol and 861 on request) and 12,979 rapid antigen tests.

From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,451,574 RT-PCR tests and 11,345,002 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
