The 38-year-old foreigner was arrested in a spontaneous procedure early Wednesday morning (September 7) in Nea Smyrni by members of the Attica Security Directorate Property Crime Prosecutor’s Office for outstanding theft, disobedience and violation of the law on weapons.

In particular, early on Wednesday morning, a 38-year-old man was seen by the police of the above service, moving on foot in the area of ​​Nea Smyrni with a bicycle.

At the sight of the police, he dropped his bicycle and ran away, but the police pursued him and managed to immobilize him. As it was established, earlier the bicycle was taken away by the janitor of an apartment building in the same area.

As it turned out during the preliminary investigation, a 38-year-old man, driving a specific car in different parts of Attica, discovered apartment buildings and penetrated into underground premises where warehouses are located, broke locks and took out valuable things, which he then put up for sale, having received a significant financial benefit.

During a search conducted in his house, among other things, the following were found and seized:

  • 2 air rifles with a magazine
  • 2 air pistols with 3 magazines
  • a variety of watches, jewelry, lenses, keys and other items
  • many electronic devices
  • decorative sword with scabbard
  • cleaver
  • number of hacking tools

In addition, the car used for the thefts was confiscated.

According to the preliminary investigation of the above-mentioned Service, 17 cases of burglary-thefts were revealed in the warehouses of apartment buildings in various parts of Attica.

In addition, the detainee had previously been accused of similar offenses.

The detainee was taken to the criminal prosecutor’s office in Athens.
