The capital’s mayor-general, Nikusor Den, said again on Thursday that he wants another mandate, claiming that he has brought the capital’s city hall out of the bankruptcy that Gabriela Firea led it to.
- “There are two years and two months left, and I want to spend every one of those days solving the big problems this city has.
- And yes, of course, I would like to have another mandate, especially because public administration projects take time.
- That is, you start a project today and finish it in three years because you have to do acquisition, pre-feasibility, acquisition, feasibility, acquisition, design and implementation.
- If you have a hole of three billion at the beginning of the term, these terms are extended.
- Yes, I wish, but the most important thing is to solve in two years and two months so many big problems that the people of Bucharest have,” Nikušor Dan said at a press conference, according to Agerpres.
About the new candidacy of Gabriela Firea Nikushor Dan said:
- “This is an election issue, an internal party issue. There are things that do not concern me. As an administrative activity, it was a disastrous mayor.”
When asked why he considers himself a more suitable mayor than his predecessor, Nikusor Dan said that he got access to several European funds, that he brought the city hall out of bankruptcy and that he initiated structural projects:
- “One brought the city hall to bankruptcy, and the other left, I think that would be the answer.
- We took as much European money in 2021 as in the last ten years – here is the second answer.
- And the third: Bucharest is the European capital, a city where almost four million people live, with zones of influence. You cannot, in a city like Bucharest, put a bridge here today and a traffic light on the other side tomorrow. I mean, for a city like Bucharest, you have to have a structured and structured thinking about what you want to do in the long term. And I came up with those constructive projects.”
He noted that these structural projects are aimed at: intelligent traffic lights (a program that includes 800 intersections, currently at the stage of obtaining a feasibility study); reconstruction of 50 km of tram tracks (one kilometer, currently completed); construction of 10 radial roads in the direction of the Capital Belt (the project was carried out jointly with CJ Ilfov and the Ministry of Transport); capital train
At the same time, he made a fourth argument, stressing that during the mandate of Gabriela Firea, Bucharest “involuted” due to the way in which urban development was carried out and the fact that “anyone built anything, anywhere”:
- “This can be seen in the traffic, in the quality of services, in everything that modern life means. And we put an end to this development.”
